Several black cats have been reported missing in Rhode Island over the past week. According to the American Humane Society, the often unfairly maligned animals make up a third of all cats that come into shelters nationwide and, while it may seem they are overlooked in favor of other colors, that's usually just due to how many of them there are.

Here are five black cats that have been reported missing throughout Rhode Island over the past week. While some of the cats listed aren't entirely black, Patch thought they deserved to be listed as well. If you've seen any of them, click on their name to return to the original Facebook post or call the number listed.

The information and photos below were taken directly from RI Lost Pets Facebook pages.
