Rhode Island's First Market Basket Opens This Week

WARWICK, RI — Rhode Island's first Market Basket location is set to open this week, the company announced. The Bald Hill Road store will open to the public Friday.

The company announced the store last June. Construction has been underway ever since. The store takes the space previously occupied by Sam's Club, and, later, At Home.

A grand opening celebration will be hold in honor of the inaugural day.

A second Market Basket location at 1300 Hartford Ave. in Johnston is currently under construction. An opening day has not yet been announced. At the time of the announcement last March, the company said the store was projected to open in 2021.
