Rhode Island's Gas Prices Fall 2 Cents

The average price per gallon is now $2.41 per gallon.

Gas prices in Rhode Island have fallen another two cents over the past week. The average price per gallon is now $2.41.

Rhode Island's price is three cents above the national average of $2.38, and approximately the same as this time last year, when it was just one cent lower in the state.

Lloyd Albert, the senior vice president of public and government affairs at AAA, said the sudden drop in oil prices comes from disagreements over production.

"Today’s plunge in crude oil prices is in response to a lack of agreement between OPEC countries and non-OPEC countries on cutting production," Albert said. "The trend of lower pump prices is likely to continue through the end of the winter driving season if crude remains cheap, especially amid concerns about the coronavirus."

Across the state, prices range 30 cents from $2.29 to $2.59. The average price and range is listed below, by grade.
