RI Adding 7,600 New Coronavirus Vaccine Appointments

PROVIDENCE, RI — Thousands of new coronavirus vaccine appointments will open in Rhode Island Tuesday morning. The new slots will be added starting at 9 a.m., the Department of Health said.

Approximately 7,600 appointments will be added to the state's vaccination scheduling portal, for the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, Sockanosset Cross Road in Cranston, Diamond Hill Road in Woonsocket, Schneider Electric in South County and at regional sites in Johnston, Woonsocket and East Providence. Those without access to the internet can call 844-930-1779 to schedule an appointment.

"It is my top priority to get as many Rhode Islanders vaccinated as quickly and equitably as possible," Gov. Dan McKee said. "We know that transportation can be a barrier to vaccine access. Many vaccine and testing sites have been purposefully located near RIPTA transportation routes to increase accessibility. We hope RIPTA service options will make it easier for Rhode Islanders to access vaccine clinics that are convenient for them."

Starting this week, Rhode Islanders aged 40 to 49 are now eligible to make a vaccine appointment. The state also expanded eligibility to residents aged 16 and older in the communities hardest-hit by the pandemic. These ZIP codes are:

• Woonsocket: 02895
• West Warwick: 02893
• Providence: 02906
• Cranston: 02910, 02920
• North Providence: 02911
• East Providence: 02914
• Johnston: 02919

These new areas are in addition to those already identified as hard-hit: 02860, 02861, 02863, 02904, 02905, 02907, 02908 and 02909.
