RI Expands COVID Vaccine Eligibility To More Hard-Hit Zip Codes

Residents aged 16 and up in Central Falls, Pawtucket and parts of Providence, Cranston and North Providence can now get vaccinated.

PROVIDENCE, RI — More Rhode Islanders are now eligible to get their coronavirus vaccine. As part of the Department of Health's focus on equity in vaccine distribution, eligibility was expanded to residents of the hardest-hit zip codes in the state.

Eligibility opened to residents aged 16 and older in all of Central Falls and Pawtucket along with parts of Providence, Cranston and North Providence. The included zip codes are:

  • 02861
  • 02863
  • 02904
  • 02905
  • 02907
  • 02908
  • 02909

"From the day I took office my top priority has been building our vaccination capacity and getting shots in arms in as many Rhode Islanders as quickly as possible," Gov. Dan McKee said. "I’m pleased that our supply from the Federal government continues to increase and I encourage all Rhode Islanders to sign up for their shot as soon as they are eligible."

According to the department, the rate of COVID-19 hospitalizations in these zip codes is 3.5 higher than the rest of the state, adjusted for age.

About 5,500 new appointments were added to the state's vaccine scheduling platform at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Rhode Islanders without internet access can call 844-930-1779 to make an appointment.
