Roger Williams Park Zoo Opening Elephant House For Tours
Come see where Alice, Ginny and Kate spend their time and interact with their keepers.
CRANSTON, RI — Have you ever wondered what it's like to care for an elephant? On August 11, the public is invited to get a glimpse inside the life of a zookeeper at Roger Williams Park Zoo.
From 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., visitors will have the chance to tour the Textron Elephant Pavilion, where they can get an up-close view of the barn and learn about what its like to care for them. 20-minute tours will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
The elephants will not be in the building during the tours and there will be no direct encounters between the animals and visitors. Guests can see the elephants in their outdoor yard after their tour is complete.

During the tours, guests will have the chance to learn from the keepers who care for the zoo's elephants, Alice, Ginny and Kate, asking them questions and talking about their unique interactions with the animals. Visitors will also have the chance to take photos inside the building.
Tours are free with the price of admission. The zoo is open every day from April until September from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and from October to May from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Admission is $17.95 per person for adults, $12.95 for children ages two through 12 and $15.95 for seniors. Children under the age of one and zoo members get in for free.
