Severe Weather Affects Flights At T.F. Green Airport

Several flights have been delayed or canceled by inclement weather in New England and across much of the Northeast.

WARWICK, RI — Severe weather in New England and across much of the Northeast has affected flights headed into Rhode Island on Wednesday evening. Several arrivals have been delayed or cancelled, while no departures have been affected at this time.

Six flights throughout the late afternoon and evening hours were listed as canceled, with all coming from other airports in the northeast and east coast region including Washington, DC, New York, Detroit and Greensboro, North Carolina. Several other flights were delayed.

According to the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency, an Airport Weather Warning is in effect until 7:30 p.m., meaning that lightning strikes could further impact flights.

A severe thunderstorm and flash flood watch are in place across all of Rhode Island on Wednesday evening as the state prepares for the remnants of Barry, followed by a heat wave. As much as two inches of rain could fall per hour on Wednesday evening, causing the potential for flooded streets.
