Strong Winds Knock Out Power To More Than 4,800 Across RI
A high wind advisory is in effect across Rhode Island until 7 p.m.

High winds have knocked out power to thousands of Rhode Islanders throughout the day on Monday. Outages numbers have fluctuated throughout the day as National Grid crews work to restore power. At its peak, nearly 4,800 customers were affected across the state.
According to the National Weather Service, peak wind gusts have reached 55 miles per hour. A high wind advisory is in effect for the entire state until 7 p.m.

Outages can be reported on National Grid's website or by calling 1-800-465-1212. Monitor current power outages with National Grid's interactive power outage map.

If you see a downed wire, report it to National Grid immediately by calling 1-800-867-5222. Always assume downed wires carry live electricity, and never touch them or attempt to drive under them.

To prepare for an electrical outage, always keep an emergency kit on hand with flashlights and extra batteries. If the power goes out, shut off anything that was in use, including appliances.
