WARWICK, RI — The Boston Bruins officially have a new anthem singer. On Thursday, the team announced that Rhode Island native Todd Angilly will fill the shoes of Bruins legend Rene Rancourt, who retired at the end of the 2017-18 season.

As the official anthem singer, Angilly will sing at approximately 80 percent of Bruins home games, the team said, with the remainder of games covered by other singers.

Angilly is a Warwick, Rhode Island native who currently lives in Lynnfield, Massachusetts. Off the ice, he keeps busy, working as a probation officer by day and tending bar at the TD Garden's SportsDeck. A trained opera singer, Angilly has performed for all five professional Boston sports teams.

While serving as a bartender, Angilly was asked to fill in at the last minute on November 2, 2017, when the scheduled singer fell through, in a game against the Las Vegas Golden Knights. Following Rancourt's retirement at the end of the season, Angilly was selected from a pool of 600 applicants as one of 52 finalists to audition live.

Last season, Angilly sang at 16 Bruins home games, including all home games as the team competed for the Stanley Cup.
