Weekly Data Shows Uptick In RI Coronavirus Hospitalizations
The total hospitalizations are still well below the state's threshold of safety, and the other 2 indicators were lower than the week before.
PROVIDENCE, RI — The latest update of Rhode Island's weekly coronavirus data trends shows a slight uptick in new hospitalizations. Over the past week, 66 people were admitted to the hospital with COVID-19, up from 43 the week before.
Despite the upward trend, Rhode Island remains well below the "red line," or the threshold of safety which, when reached, would prompt state leaders to consider moving back a phase of reopening or closing down parts of the economy.
Last week, the state moved to a new data dashboard, which focuses more on trends, mapping the data weekly. Each week, the data is updated, comparing the latest data with the week before.
