PROVIDENCE, RI — Friday is National Donut Day, and bakeries, coffee shops and donut shops across Rhode Island are offering special deals and freebies. Here are some of the best places to celebrate.

Two Providence businesses have chosen to donate a portion of their profits Friday to organizations supporting protesters for racial justice. Knead Donuts announced that 20 percent of sales will be donated to the Solidarity Fund, while PVDonuts will give 25 percent of sales to the Rhode Island ACLU.

  • Dunkin' Donuts: The New England standby is giving away a free donut with the purchase of any drink.
  • Honey Dew Donuts: Get a free donut with the purchase of any medium beverage.
  • Liberty Donuts: The Newport donut shop is offering buy one, get one free donuts, up to half a dozen, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Allie's Donuts: The Rhode Island classic reopened its doors at the end of May after a weeks-long closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.
