As NOT Seen on TV: Bob's Toys For Tots Telethon

Curiously absent from The Airwaves for another year was the scheduled broadcast of Cable Access Legend Bob Venturini Toys For Tots Telethon, on December 10.

Mr. Venturini was notified by the Rhode Island Public Utility Commission's Public Access Coordinator on December 9 that Cox Communications simply did not have the technology to deliver a Live Broadcast from the Warwick Mall Food Court.

Cox Cable Customers are assessed a surcharge on every bill to support the broadcast of Community Programs.

This follows the events of two years ago, when improper color masking of the telecast rendered the Telethon Broadcast virtually unwatchable.

By his estimate, the last minute cancellation of TV Coverage cost the Toys For Tots Drive thousands of toys.

Traditionally, Mr. Venturini's Collection Drive is amongst the largest in Southern New England.

We at The Coalition question Cox Communications commitment to their legally obligated responsibility to provide Community Based Public Access Programming, and wonders why Children have to bear the brunt of their continued assault on said obligation.

Mr. Venturini's recorded comments can be found on this weeks Coalition Podcast, at www.CoalitionRadio.us.
Mr Venturini joins the live show at approximately minute 25
