Coronavirus: East Greenwich Summer Recreation Registration Delay

East Greenwich has postponed its summer recreation registration to May 26 due to uncertainty over summer group gathering limit in RI.

EAST GREENWICH, RI —The East Greenwich Parks & Recreation Department is not giving up on the summer quite yet amid the new coronavirus health emergency.

While many summer events have been canceled in recent weeks, East Greenwich has merely postponed its summer recreation registration until May 26 in order to get a better sense of what types of gatherings will be allowed under the state's phased-in reopening.

"We will make every effort to offer summer programming this year with priority on our participants’ health and safety. We appreciate your patience," East Greenwich officials posted on social media on Monday.

Gov. Raimondo said last week that, if coronavirus hospitalizations in the state continue their recent plateau and then do not spike when the stay-at-home order is scheduled to expire on Friday, a phased-in reopening could allow for gatherings of up to 50 people by July.
