Driver Injured After Crashing Into Utility Pole In East Greenwich

The crash took place at approximately 9 a.m. Saturday on Middle Road.

EAST GREENWICH, RI — One person was injured after crashing their car into a utility pole on Middle Road Saturday morning, said the East Greenwich firefighters' union IAFF Local 3328 in a Facebook post.

East Greenwich firefighters responded to the scene at approximately 9 a.m. for reports of a utility pole on fire and found that the pole had fallen on top of the car, trapping the driver inside.

The driver was extricated and transported to Kent County Hospital. Their condition is currently unknown.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation and no further information has been released.
