EG Fisherman Fined For Exceeding Tautog Limit, Wickford Cove
Larry C. Norin was also charged with resisting arrest and obstructing a police officer.

EAST GREENWICH, RI—An East Greenwich man faces charges after he was accused of taking too many tautog. Lary C. Norin had 21 tautog, which is more than twice the legal limit, according to the Department of Environmental Management. A DEM officer on Tuesday charged Norin and threw the 21 fish, which were still alive, back into the water at Wickford Cove.
According to the DEM press release, the officer, Harold Guise, tried to question Norin after he docked his boat. Norin did not answer and walked away, the DEM said. But Guise talked to two other men on the boat and surmised the fisherman went over the legal limit, which is 10. When Guise asked Norin to go back on the boat, Norin threw a bucket of live fish back in the water, the DEM said. Ultimately, Norin was arrested. In addition to going over the legal limit for tautog, he was charged with resisting arrest, obstructing an officer and cited for improper display of his boat's registration.
