East Greenwich Police Swear In 3 New Officers

East Greenwich police conducted a socially distant swearing in ceremony on Tuesday.

EAST GREENWICH, RI — East Greenwich police welcomed three new additions during a socially distant swearing in ceremony on Tuesday. Town Clerk Leigh Carney swore in Patrolman Ryan Coogan, Patrolman Nolan Carney and Patrolman Daniel Pickering.

East Greenwich police said the officers will fill some of the vacancies the department has incurred over the last couple of years.

"They have committed themselves to a difficult job during unprecedented times in our community," East Greenwich International Brotherhood of Police Officers Local 472 posted on social media. "Let's wish them well on their new career for the Town of East Greenwich!"

The officers will have a more formal swearing in ceremony at an upcoming town council meeting.
