East Greenwich Rec Department: Spring Session Programs Announced

Fitness classes, youth sports and adult golf lessons are among the offerings.

EAST GREENWICH, RI—Spring programs at the East Greenwich Parks and Recreation Department include tennis and golf lessons, fitness for children and adults and special family events, such as the Teddy Bear Picnic. Registrations are now being accepted at the office at 1127 Frenchtown Road.

East Greenwich Residents may sign up online as long as they have a pre-approved online account. To get one, submit an online account request form to the office.

For the youngsters, there are several athletic and fitness classes. Squeaky Sneakers and All Sports classes will be offered Tuesdays mornings. This class gets the children running, jumping leaping and laughing, all while learning a new sport.

On Thursday mornings, gymnastics classes are offered. Also, there are tennis lessons and pick-up basketball night.

The Pitch, Hit and Run competition gives children the opportunity to compete for the state title.

Youth Arts and Learning classes include Messy Crafts, Family Music Time, What’s Out There, Nature Exploration and My First Stiches, Kids Can Sew.

For adults, beginner golf classes will be taught by the pros at the North Kingstown Municipal Golf Course. Adult tennis classes are scheduled Tuesday mornings at the Frenchtown Park courts. There are also Day Trips to Babcock-Smith Museum, Seabee Museum and Tower Hill Botanic Garden. Trip fees are minimal. The Ramblers-Hiking Group meets weekly from March 30 to June 8.

Adults/Seniors interested in getting into shape or remain in shape are encouraged to sign up for Body Conditioning, Stability Ball Fitness, Stretch and Relaxation, Define Yourself, Zumba, Hula Hoop Fitness or Pilates.

Special family events include the Town Scavenger Hunt (April 22, 2017) and the Teddy Bear Picnic (June 3, 2017). Additional information on programs can be found in the flyer, or on the web.
