EG Swimmer, 15, Completes Cross-Continental Swim in Turkey

Marino, 15, a East Greenwich High School junior, managed a time of 54.24 minutes in the 6.5 kilometer open water swim.

East Greenwich's own Timucin Marino finished in sixth place in his age group and 61st overall in the Bosphorus Cross-Continental Swimming Race in Istanbul, Turkey recently.

The race is organized by the Turkish Olympic Committee and 1,846 swimmers from 54 different countries competed in swimming from Asia to Europe in the Marmara Sea.

Honorary guest, Inge de Bruijn, who holds a record for female swimmers with four gold, two silver and two bronze Olympic medals and a combined nine individual titles won at the Olympics and World Aquatics Championships.

Marino also swims for East Greenwich high school's swim team and SSA USA swim team.
