Halloween Parade, Party to Hit Main Street
The parade of goblins steps off Oct. 29 at 10 a.m., and an egg hunt, games and hayrides follow.

EAST GREENWICH, RI -- Halloween goblins, ghosts and other costumed characters are invited to Academy Field at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29 to form up for the parade.
The annual march down Main Street steps off at 10 a.m., and it's just the beginning of the fun.
This is the 23rd annual Halloween Parade and Party, according to Cathy Bradley. It's a joint effort by the The East Greenwich Parks & Recreation Department, the East Greenwich Veteran Fireman’s Association and the Main Street Merchants’ Committee, she said.

They've planned a lot of activities.
Right after the parade, everyone returns to Academy Field for the Halloween egg hunt. The children are supposed to bring their own bags to collect the booty.

Then, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the action moves back to Main Street.
"Grab a ride from the horse drawn hay wagon from the rear of the Municipal Parking lot, along Marlborough Street," Bradley said.
At Town Hall, the Parks & Recreation Department will put on games and activities.
Then children 12 and under can go trick or treating in many of the shops, thanks to the Main Street Merchants’ Committee.
"Look for the pumpkin in the storefront window of the participating merchants," Bradley said.
The trick or treat happens between 10:30 a.m. and 12 noon. To participate, children must be dressed in a Halloween costume.
The parade and the games are free; but it's also a Helping Halloween event, so canned good donations to help the needy are accepted. Also, parent participation is required, Bradley said.
