Meet The Champs: Rocky Hill Boys' LAX Team

The boys' varsity squad captured the title by defeating St. Andrew's School.

From the Rocky Hill School: The Rocky Hill School Boys’ Varsity Lacrosse team defeated St. Andrew’s School in the SENEISAA championship game. The Mariners scored 14 goals against the Saints’ 11 goals.

On Wednesday, May 16, the Mariners travelled to Barrington to take on St. Andrew’s for the SENE Championship. Having split the regular season series, the Mariners knew that it was going to be a struggle. The Saints came out firing, taking advantage of several penalties on the Mariners to secure a 8-5 halftime lead. The third quarter saw the Mariners rebound slightly, starting the fourth quarter down 10-7.

The fourth quarter was like a new game. Kobe Polley ’20 won three successive face-offs and scored three goals within two minutes to tie up the score at 10-10. From there, the Mariners never looked back, with Griffin Spinney ’20 scoring some truly spectacular goals to build the Mariners’ lead to 14-11. From there, the defense locked down the Saints’ attack and held on for the victory. It is the Mariners’ first SENE Championship since 2011. Congratulations to Nick Mangiameli ’18 for a fantastic career as the Mariners goalie, and to the entire team for their hard work and execution down the stretch.
