Monday Essentials: Boil That Tap Water! New Recycle Plan Starts!
Your guide for life in East Greenwich this week.

Water Contamination Advisory: Kent County Water Authority advises its customers to boil tap water before using it, or to use bottled water. Water tests showed elevated levels of E. coli bacteria from a sample taken Friday. The boil-water advisory is expected to remain in effect for the next few days. New Recycle Pickup Schedule starts today: If your trash is picked up today, you should put your big new blue recycle container out too. Face the container with the front facing the street – all your recyclables need to be inside the container. For visuals, check out the town’s info about the program here.
EG Farmers Market: Swing by Academy Field this afternoon and pick up prepared foods (Middle Eastern delights from the Deli or pizza from Bravo), items to grill (seafood from Matunuck Oysters, meats from Pat’s Pastured), and lots of fresh vegetables, as well as sweets baked in someone else’s oven! It’s hot-weather fare made easy. From 3 to 6 p.m.

Town Council meeting: The panel meets tonight in regular session, bookended by executive sessions to interview town manager applicants. You’ll find the full agenda here. The public portion of the meeting begins at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.
Click It or Ticket enforcement stepped up this week: Starting today and continuing through Sunday, Sept. 29, the Rhode Island State Police is stepping up enforcement of the child restraint laws and seat belt laws in an effort to save lives. Patrols will also encourage all motorists to “Buckle Up” and ensure that all children are properly secured in their motor vehicles.

Restaurant Week continues: Nearly 30 restaurants are participating in the 2nd Annual East Greenwich Restaurant Week – which is actually 10 days, through Sept. 29. The restaurants will be featuring specials and some discounts. You can learn more here.
