EAST GREENWICH, RI — The site of the proposed new Rhode Island State Police Southern Barracks would actually be in West Greenwich, not East Greenwich, according to East Greenwich News.

The state originally announced the barracks would be in East Greenwich, most likely due to confusion regarding the dividing line between the two towns.

If the $28 million project is approved, the building would be located off of Route 95 and replace the Wickford and Hope Valley barracks.

McKee's financing plan for the project still needs General Assembly authorization. It would cost a total of $34.7 million, which includes an interest rate of 2.75%, repaid over 15 years.
