Obituary: Edna (Blade) Keenan, 100
A member of the Warwick Sunshine Committee and a Varnum Lady at the Varnum House in East Greenwich, she managed to be involved in the community while raising her brood of children.

Edna (Blade) Keenan, 100, passed away Sept. 8. She was the wife of the late Edward J. Keenan.
Edna and Ed were avid boating enthusiasts for 40 years with memberships at the Warwick Marina and the East Greenwich Yacht Club. She was active in various garden clubs and was president of both the Warwick/East Greenwich Garden Club and the Dig Delve Garden Club in West Warwick.
A member of the Warwick Sunshine Committee and a Varnum Lady at the Varnum House in East Greenwich, she managed to be involved in the community while raising her brood of children. She still completed crossword puzzles in pen, challenged herself with 1500-piece jig saw puzzles, and conversed on any local or world wide event. Edna was proud to say that she had received the Providence Journal her entire life beginning with her parents' subscription to it when she was born.
She is survived by her three children: Marjorie K. Cottrell, wife of the late Col. Richard S. Cottrell, John E. Keenan and his wife, Marlaine, and June R. Capece and her husband, Vincent; her cherished grandchildren: Sharlene, Robin, Kathleen, Edward, Sean, Jamie, Bryan, James and Dean; and six great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Nancy L., Kathleen, Edward J., III, James M. and Maureen E. and was also predeceased by her granddaughter Marnie, and five siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Providence St., West Warwick. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, East Greenwich. Calling hours are omitted. Donations in her memory may be to the American Cancer Society.
