No Medical Waste Facility - Research the Facts
Medrecycler says they're going to "be a good neighbor" but research the facts for yourself NOT the ones the company is feeding the public.
As many of you may have seen , Attorney General Neronha recently provided public comment to DEM as part of the Medrcyler - RI Solid Waste Permit public comment . We appreciate the AG speaking out to protect the people of Kent County and the health and safety of all Rhode Islanders.
Another recent development was the approval of the Act on Climate bill for Rhode Island. The goal of the bill is to reduce emissions statewide. Per the Conservation Law Foundation, "Medrecycler told DEM that it will emit 20,881 tons of CO2 per year. " Does that seem to fit with our goals to reduce emissions? RI is too densely populated a state to allow the impact of this or any type of high heat facility.
Medrecycler claims they will generate "renewable energy" yet burning waste is not renewable. They claim they will not be "burning" waste yet the DEM fact sheet states a "flammable gas (syngas) that will be burned to generate electricity." There will also be a "solid ash-like material" produced . What is the toxicity content for this material and what would the potential impact be from it's disposal on the community and the environment?

For the past several years (project began in Johnston in 2018) Medrecycler has been trying to get up and running in RI. Keep in mind Mr. Campanella has NO experience in this field and Technotherm has NEVER tested their pyrolysis process with medical waste. Yet they continue to claim their process is "safe" and they will be a "good neighbor". Testing protocols to date have not yet been defined and were not part of the public comment review. Does this sound like a company looking out for our best interests ? Medrecycler is only looking to make money at the expense of our communities and our climate.
One other question that remains... why would the RIIFC consider approving bonds for this company as their own recent 10-K filing for the parent company , Sun Pacific Holdings, reflects the following...

Due to the current debt load of the Company, our credit worthiness may endanger our ability to secure financing.
Given the financial condition of the Company, securing financing for a project such as our waste to energy project has been a very difficult task, as has been the case for most fund-raising efforts for the Company. The current debt load and financial performance of the Company could raise creditworthiness issues in the eyes of potential lenders. The current state of the Company’s credit could require the Company to evaluate new corporate and capital structures of our subsidiaries in order to shield our subsidiary interests from the liabilities of the Company. If we fail to present lenders with a credit profile that will meet their standards, large projects, such as our subsidiary project in MedRecycler-RI, Inc. could fail or require new corporate and or capital restructuring. Given that the Company is already heavily in debt, such failure to secure financing and complete the project could require the Company to file for bankruptcy and encumber all of the assets of the Company.
I encourage all to research this project for themselves and get the FACTS.
