A Plea For Coronavirus Compliance In East Greenwich
As local shops and restaurants face an ongoing struggle to survive, customers are asked to follow guidelines when shopping and dining out.
EAST GREENWICH, RI — East Greenwich residents and tourists are being urged to frequent local small business and restaurants, if they are comfortable doing so, and following state coronavirus guidelines to help their staffs and help those businesses survive the health crisis.
Town officials also asked businesses to make sure all staff follows the same guidelines when it comes to face masks and other safety protocols.
"If we don't figure out a balance in the exercise of safe behavior very soon, many of our local businesses will not make it through the upcoming winter season," the town posted on its official social media site.

The post noted that compliance will be essential to help businesses maximize the summer tourist season and stay in business into the fall and winter seasons as coronavirus restrictions are expected to remain in place for the foreseeable future.
"East Greenwich can do this, we're a smart and resilient community, but only if everyone buys into the process as we all need to rely on each other to make this work," the town said. "When the summer crowds and outdoor seating has ended, your guess is as good as any as to what our commercial district may look like and what doors may/may not remain open.
