Police Log: More Car Breaks & Egg Breaks

Thursday, Dec. 26

1:11 a.m. – A man told police he saw an older Camaro with a couple passengers hit a pole at the corner of King and Water streets. The car proceeded south of Water Street.

Friday, Dec. 27

11:56 a.m. – An East Greenwich couple told police they were being harassed by another EG resident who, they said, blamed the husband for breaking up his marriage. The other man was texting both husband and wife and they wanted a no-trespass order against him.

Sunday, Dec. 29

3:47 a.m. – Police were called to Birchwood Way on the report of someone breaking into a car there. Police found a Nissan SUV parked in a driveway on Woodland with the driver’s door open, the glove box open, and some of what looked like contents strewn on the front seats. Police did not find any other cars in the area that appeared to have been broken into.

4:17 a.m. – Police stopped an EG man who was walking on Main Street near King Street carrying a backpack. The man allowed police to search the pack, which appeared to contain only his possessions. He explained he’d left his parents’ house in town and was walking to the airport. He declined a ride and was allowed to continue his journey.

8:48 a.m. – A Hanaford Drive resident told police someone broke into her car overnight. The newspaper delivery man had stopped at her house to tell her he’d found some of her things in the middle of Mayflower Drive. She told police she’d left her purse in the unlocked car. The resident said she was missing about $150 in cash, an iPhone 5, and her purse.

11:01 a.m. – Two Bayberry Lane residents told police their cars had been broken into sometime overnight. In both cases, small amounts of cash were taken. Both cars had been unlocked

11:40 a.m. – A Midlands Drive resident told police someone had gone through two of the four cars parked in her driveway overnight – the two that had been unlocked. Among the items taken were loose change, CDs, a Swiss Army knife and a Leatherman knife.

3:05 p.m. – A Tory Lane resident told police his car had been broken into overnight and he was missing a Garmin GPS system.

8:38 p.m. – A Deerfield Drive resident told police someone had egged his house during the evening, the second such incident in a week.
