Rain Won't Deter Veterans Day Parade in East Greenwich
Many towns cancelled festivities but East Greenwich is going ahead with its 10 a.m. parade.

East Greenwich is going ahead with its planned Veterans Day parade and festivities today.
Many communities in Rhode Island have cancelled activities or moved some indoors due to rain and wind in the forecast, but town officials have decided to brave the weather and hope to weave the parade through what appears to be a lull in the rain Wednesday morning.
In a recorded message at East Greenwich Town Hall, Town Clerk Leigh Botello said that the town is going ahead with the parade and it will step off right at 10 a.m. as planned.

Town officials have been keeping a close eye on the forecast and there was a chance that the parade was getting nixed with many forecasters describing the batch of rain and wind as a “mini nor’easter.”
Last night, Botello indicated that the cancellation would occur if the weather was “really yukky” on Wednesday. While it might be a little yukky, it’s not yukky enough to put a damper on the town’s effort to celebrate past and present veterans.
