RI Weather: Advisory For Providence, Western Kent Counties

Part of the state is under a winter weather advisory Sunday, the National Weather Service said.

SMITHFIELD, RI — The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Providence and Western Kent counties for Sunday. But the rest of the state is not going to have spring weather, either. Rain and sleet are in the forecast for Bristol, East Greenwich, and North Kingstown on Sunday. Newport and Narragansett will escape the sleet. It will just be rainy, raw and windy at the coast. Here is the winter weather advisory.

Including the cities of Foxborough, Norwood, Boston, Quincy,
Taunton, Foster, Smithfield, Providence, Coventry,
and West Greenwich

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM TO 5 PM
EDT SUNDAY...

* WHAT...Sleet and pockets of freezing rain expected. Total ice
accumulations of a trace are expected.

* WHERE...Portions of eastern and southeastern Massachusetts and
northern Rhode Island.

* WHEN...From 6 AM to 5 PM EDT Sunday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The ice will result in very slippery
conditions on sidewalks, roads and bridges.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of freezing rain
will cause travel difficulties. Expect slippery roads. Slow down
and use caution while driving.
