On Saturday …

AIDS Walk for Life: The annual walk takes place this Saturday, Sept. 28, with walkers gathering at 9 a.m. on the Rhode Island State House lawn, and the step-off at 10 a.m. A short speaking program starts at 9:30 a.m. and will feature Anthony Maselli.  

Friends of Ron Stabile concert: A free concert featuring many students, friends and colleagues of Ron Stabile from his many years as a teacher and performer takes place Saturday at 8 p.m. at URI. Donations will be accepted to help raise money for the Ron Stabile Scholarship at URI.

Restaurant Week continues: Nearly 30 restaurants are participating in the 2nd Annual East Greenwich Restaurant Week through Sunday, Sept. 29. The restaurants will be featuring specials and some discounts. You can learn more here.

EGAPL Hound Hike: The 17th Annual Hound Hike to support the East Greenwich Animal Protection League takes place Sunday, Sept. 29, at the Carousel in Goddard Park – rain or shine. Registration begins at noon and the 2-mile walk starts at 1 p.m. There is a $20 donation per walker. All dogs must be leashed, healthy and vaccinated. Grief Support: This group at Christ Church is open to anyone who is grieving the loss of a loved one. Each session begins with a video followed by discussion. Through helpful insights and caring and compassionate discussion, the healing process can begin. 2 p.m. For more information, contact the Christ Church office at 884-8632 or info@christchurchec.org.

Gary Burton in concert: A jazz concert featuring star jazz vibraphonist and jazz fusion master Gary Burton, to benefit the Ron Stabile Percussion Scholarship, takes place Sunday at 3 p.m. at URI. Don't miss this chance to hear Burton, whose memoir about the jazz scene in the 60's and 70's has just been published. Held in the URI Fine Arts Center Concert Hall. Assigned seating ticket prices $45, $35, $25. Tickets are on sale through our website (credit card only) or at the door as available (check or cash only).
