EAST GREENWICH, RI — The state-run COVID-19 test site in East Greenwich closed for good this weekend following a final day of testing on Saturday.

The site, which was located at the New England Institute of Technology (NEIT) at 1560 Division Road, is one of 14 test sites and two mass vaccination sites that were shut down over the weekend due to a decrease in the demand for testing in Rhode Island.

As more residents get vaccinated, health officials are focusing on bringing COVID-19 testing to the communities with the lowest vaccination rates, which currently includes Woonsocket and Tiverton, as well as schools, tourist areas, and outbreak centers.
