Three East Greenwich Firefighters Test Positive For Coronavirus

Three out of the 34 firefighters at the East Greenwich Fire Department have tested positive for coronavirus.

EAST GREENWICH, RI—Three firefighters at the East Greenwich Fire Department have tested positive for COVID-19 as of Monday.

According to the Greenwich firefighters' union, IAFF Local 3328, more positive cases within the fire department are expected due to close living quarters and a few firefighters experiencing symptoms who were in close contact with those who tested positive.

There are 34 firefighters that make up the East Greenwich Fire Department, which means 10% of the department has already tested positive. However, the union said they are confident that the healthy firefighters will be able to cover the department's demands.
