Two Avengers Sign With College Teams
Here's an update about the grads now playing at the collegiate level.

From East Greenwich High School: Right up there among the big news lately, is that two East Greenwich High School Avengers have committed to Division One football programs.
- All State wide receiver ANDREW LICCIARDI has committed to ACC, FBS Division 1 member Syracuse, as a preferred walk-on. Licciardi led the Avs in receptions, yards and TD's. The Orangemen are looking at him as either a slot receiver, or possibly, a defensive back.
- WILLIAM LADAS, a defensive end for the Crimson has also signed with a D-1 program, Sacred Heart University. The Pioneers are an FCS school and play in the Northeast Conference.
- PAT PETTERUTI - Freshman pitcher for the Brown University Bears of the Ivy League, appeared in 7 games this spring, starting two games with an ERA of 8.31 and was 0-1 on the mound.
- Also donning the Brown and Red for Rhode Island's Ivy League entrant, tennis player PERI SHEININ finished her net season with a 6-4 singles record and a 4-4 doubles mark.
- SARAH MIGLIORI toiled for the Brown women's ice hockey unit and appeared in 19 games. She had 2 assists on the year.
- JACKSON CRONIN had a great Frosh year at George Washington University. The standout distance runner posted a 4:25.94 Indoor mile at the Ducharme Invitational. Outdoors at the Mason Spring Invite he did the 1500 in 4:05.41. At the Colonial relays he zipped 5000 meters in 15:15.93.
- Another former runner for The Crimson, TOMMY SOMMER, a Junior at American University, is also making his mark in the distances. He won the Morgan State Legacy Meet 5000M in 15:23.36 and his his personal best in that event with a 15:16.99 at the Patriot League Championships.
- East Greenwich High School Athletic Director was happy to report that his daughter, TAYLOR COBAIN, has signed a Letter of Intent to play women's lacrosse at St. Anselm's, a D2 school, which competes in the Northeast 10. Taylor was accepted into the Nursing Program at SA.
- ALEKSANDRA DRLJACA, a Senior at Connecticut College is finishing up a storied career for the Lady Camels tennis squad. Miss Drljaca, who has played #1 singles ever since her arrival at CC, won her final college match 7-6, 6-0 in an 8-1 win over Ithaca. Against Hamilton she and her doubles partner posted an 8-1 win. The same two earned a doubles point in a 5-4 win over Trinity. Aleksandra won her singles match against her D2 Bentley opponent prevailing 3-6, 6-3, 15-13, and then teamed with Stephanie Simon to gain an 8-0 win at #3 doubles.
- MARGARET MCCAFFREY, a Rhode Island College Junior has already earned New England Alliance honors and was the Little East Champion in the 3000 meters steeplechase at 12:33.60. She has also registered a 3:09.19 season best in the 1000M. Margaret has a best of 11:48.83 in the 3000M, and won the 1000m at the UMass-Boston Invitational with a time of 3:14.75.
- BRANDON ECKLES has wrapped up his hoop career at Springfield College. He finished this year playing 31 games, with a 6.3 points per game average, 4 rebounds a game and one assist per contest. He had 3 blocked shots versus the Coast Guard Academy, 2 steals at MIT, and 3 Three point Field Goals at WPI.
- SKYLAR FONTAINE, ice hockey player at Northeastern University, played in 39 games this past season with 5 goals and 9 assists for 14 points. She scored three power play goals and had 2 game winning scores. Skylar was fourth on the team with 108 shots on goal.
- LAUREN SWANSON, a Junior at Northeastern, also had a stellar year. She had personal bests in the Weight throw at 55'11.75"(indoor) and in the hammer at 168'4.87" in the Hammer (outdoor). She ranks 6th All Time in the Hammer and 9th in the Weight throw. Indoors she took a 2nd in the Weight throw at the Battle of Beantown and also at the Joe Donahue Games. Indoors she took a 5th in the WT at the New England Championships. Outdoor she was 3rd in hammer at Minuteman Invite and 2nd at the Jay Carisella Invitational.
- At Clarion University in Pennsylvania, former Avenger thrower, SUMMER MURRAY has Personal Bests Indoors of 14.23M in Weight Throw and 10.58 in the Shot Put. Outdoors she has registered 37.75M in Hammer; 43.07M in the discus, and 10.75M in the shot.
