Warwick Traffic Stop Nets Three On Weapons Charges

State police arrested three men on East Avenue, Warwick, after troopers saw them driving erratically.

WARWICK, RI — State police on Thursday stopped a car on East Avenue after seeing the driver operating erratically on Interstate-95 and on Route 113. The car stop led to an investigation, and the trooper alleges he recovered a stolen handgun, illegal armor-piercing ammunition and a bulletproof vest.

Arrested were:

  • Jerome Joseph, 48, of Brockton, Mass.;
  • Figaro Voguel, age 42, of Hyde Park, Mass; and
  • Anaika Claudia-Nicole Whyles, 27, of Lewiston, Maine.

All three were charged with:

  • License or permit required for carrying a pistol
  • Possession of a stolen firearm
  • Conspiracy
  • Possession of armor-piercing bullets

Joseph also was charged with:

  • Giving false documents to agent or public official

The three suspects were held overnight pending a district court appearance.
