Friday, Aug. 23:

North Kingstown Free Library hosts a performance by Providence Brigade Band, chartered in 1847 with a songbook to match. 6 p.m. Free. 

For a much different vibe, head down to the Newport Yachting Center for the Brew and View, with the classic flick Jaws and almost a dozen local food trucks, plus Sam Adams to purchase. Bring blankets and chairs. 

Saturday, Aug. 24:

Reader Diane Babb listed a Yard and Appliance Sale on the EG Patch calendar. Starts at 9 a.m., 110 Chestnut Drive.

Smith's Castle has been overrun with pirates! Take the ride to NK to enjoy the noon-to-4 p.m. experience. $8 adults, $3 for kids 6 to 12, free for younger. Rated "arrr."

Sunday, Aug. 25:

Celebrate Rhode Island's founder [did you know it's 350 years this year?] at Touro Synagogue in Newport with a performance of New and Dangerous Opinions of Roger Williams. The Aurea Ensemble provides a soundtrack to readings of Williams.
