Hopkinton Police: Men In White Car Tried To Detain Women

A woman told police that two men in a white sedan on Main Street in Ashaway Monday night repeatedly urged her to get into their car.

HOPKINTON, RI — Hopkinton police say the public should be aware of an incident where a woman out walking at night was accosted by men in a white sedan who repeatedly urged her to get into their car.

The woman told police that the car stopped along Main Street in Ashaway near Spicer Marketplace just before 10 p.m. Monday. She said two men in a white, older model four-door sedan "repeatedly offered to give her a ride" but she refused. The men were described as white with dark hair in their late 20s or early 30s. The driver had a thin mustache and goatee.

Police believe the two men later approached another woman and tried giving her a ride. She also declined.

Police warned residents not to approach the car if they see it. Instead, they should call the Hopkinton Police Department at 401-377-7750. Anyone in immediate danger should call 911.
