DEM Working On Wild Turkey Problem In Johnston
The state Department of Environmental Management said today it doesn't yet have a plan for the turkeys. The birds have been on the roads.

JOHNSTON, RI—After reports about wild turkeys holding up Atwood Avenue traffic, the state says it's premature to say what kind of action — if any — the Department of Environmental Management should take.
"We’re working to see if there’s a way forward for Johnston," DEM spokesman Michael Healey told Patch on Wednesday. "It’s premature for us to discuss it unless and until we have a plan."
According to WJAR-TV's story, one of the turkeys was hit by a car and ran off. Mayor Joseph Polisena called DEM earlier about moving the birds elsewhere, given the potential danger for the birds and for people if an accident happened.
