Johnston Baby Born at Women & Infant's Hospital is Rhode Island's First Birth in 2017
Crystal DeLeon gave birth to a baby girl five minutes after midnight Jan. 1.
JOHNSTON, RI—Her name is Carla Jean De-Leon, and she is the first baby born in Rhode Island in 2017, according to a survey of other Rhode Island hospitals.
Carla Jean was born at Women & Infant's Hospital at 12:05 a.m. on Jan. 1.
"We have the first baby of 2017," laughed her mother Crystal DeLeon.

The baby is the couple's first girl but their third child.
The family lives in Johnston.
