Johnston Police Chief To Retire This Summer

Chief Richard Tamburini, who is believed to be the state's longest-tenured police chief at 25 years, will retire effecive Aug. 31.

JOHNSTON, RI — Johnston Police Chief Richard Tamburini, who at 25 years guiding the Johnston Police Department is believed to be the longest-tenured chief in the state, will retire this summer.

The town announced on Monday that Chief Tamburini will retire effective Aug. 31. He also served in the Providence Police Department where he was the city's Deputy Chief of Police.

Tamburini is also the city's longest-tenured police chief.
