Johnston Police Investigating Weekend Shooting

JOHNSTON, RI — Johnston Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened over the weekend and left one person with a gunshot wound to the leg.

The incident happened on Atwood Ave. late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, said police.

Chief Joseph Razza said the victim was involved in an altercation with several people prior to being shot in the leg.

The victim, who has not been identified, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The incident remains under investigation and no further information has been released.
