Megan's Masquerade Ball Set for Friday, Feb. 3
The party will raise money for Johnston resident Megan DaFonseca, who needs a kidney transplant.

JOHNSTON, RI —Megan DaFonseca, of Johnston, was born with bilateral renal arterial stenosis and spent many months on life support at Boston Children's Hospital, according to her friend and supporter Amanda Marshall.
At 16 months, she received a kidney transplant from her mother. The operation was successful; and although she suffered some medical set backs, she lived as normal a life as possible. She was graduated from Johnston High and Lincoln Technical School, married and found a job as a medical assistant.
But the kidney failed in January. Now 24, she needs a new kidney. An aunt hopes to be a match and become the donor, but Megan's friends are trying to raise the money for the kidney transplant, which is not paid by insurance.
