Ocean State Job Lot Donates 7,000 Flags For Memorial Day Tribute

The flags will be planted at Roger Williams Park.

From Ocean State Job Lot: Ocean State Job Lot, a growing, privately-held discount retail chain with 131 stores in New England, New York, and New Jersey today delivered 7,000 American flags to Operation Stand Down in Johnston to replace those lost over the winter due to storm leakage during last month’s nor’easter. The flags, personally delivered by David Sarlitto, Executive Director of the Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation, will be used in Operation Stand Down’s annual Boots on the Ground for Heroes Memorial display at Roger Williams Park over Memorial Day weekend. Nearly $4,000 worth of American flags were impacted by the storm.

Ocean State Job Lot has partnered with Operation Stand Down for many years on myriad veterans’ initiatives. With a strong emphasis on providing aid to military service members and their families, Ocean State Job Lot stepped in to help honor those killed in the line of duty and ensure that Operation Stand Down’s memorial continued as planned.

“We pride ourselves on being good neighbors in our communities, so when we were made aware of the serious damage to Operation Stand Down’s supply of American flags, we knew we could help,” said David Sarlitto, Executive Director of the Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation.
