State Police Arrest Johnston Man On Domestic Assault Charges

JOHNSTON, RI — State Police arrested a Johnston man on a warrant for domestic assault charges during a traffic stop in Providence early Friday morning. Police said Curtis Mathieu, 23, was charged with domestic simple assault, domestic assault with a deadly weapon and vehicle, domestic strangulation, domestic disorderly and malicious domestic damage.

Police said the stop occurred at Hartford Avenue near Flower Street in Providence at about 1 a.m. Thursday morning. Mathieu was processed at State Police Headquarters and turned over to the Providence Police Department, where the charges originated.
