JOHNSTON, RI — More than a month after escaping a truck headed for a slaughterhouse, the now-infamous "Johnston cow" is still on the loose. Police are asking residents to "steer clear" of the animal and report all sightings to the department.

"The escaped Johnston cow is still on the lam," the department wrote on Facebook. "Where now, brown cow? We have been actively tracking and monitoring the cow since its great escape. Help us bring this story to a good conclusion."

The public is urged to "steer clear of the steer" and not to try to catch it.
