Johnston Truck Rollover: 3 Hurt; I-295 Closed For 3 Hours
Two trucks were involved in a crash on Interstate 295, forcing the closure of the northbound side of the highway from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

JOHNSTON, RI — Three people were injured in a crash involving two trucks on Interstate 295 Monday afternoon, police said. The crash happened on the northbound side of the highway just after 1 p.m. and officials closed the highway in that direction for several hours. There were long traffic delays and vehicles were diverted off at Exit 7. Drivers were encouraged to seek alternate routes.
Those hurt in the crash all suffered injuries described by Rhode Island State Police as not life-threatening.
The highway was reopened to traffic around 4 p.m. after crews were able to clear the roadway. According to state police, two trucks: one towing a wood chipper, the other a bucket truck, collided, blocking both lanes of the highway. Both trucks are owned by Mike's Professional Tree Service in Coventry. Photos taken at the scene show the bucket truck rolled over on its side and the other truck and wood chipper off to the side of the road.
