2 Treated For Hypothermia After Car Goes Into Ocean In Middletown

Two passengers and their dog were rescued Friday after their car went into the water at Third Beach.

MIDDLETOWN, RI — Middletown Fire Department responded to reports of a car and its two passengers going into the water at Third Beach on Friday afternoon, according to the firefighters' union Facebook page.

The union said the vehicle was on the boat ramp, but not in park. The two passengers had extricated themselves by the time firefighters arrived. There was also a dog in the car who was rescued.

"Patients and dog treated for hypothermia and released," said the union's Facebook post.

A tow truck removed the car from the ocean and no injuries were reported.
