911 Issue Reported In Middletown
Residents are encouraged to call police and fire departments directly for emergency services until the issue is resolved.
MIDDLETOWN, RI — Certain Middletown residents may have trouble getting through to the 911 call center, Rhode Island State Police reported Saturday morning. Verizon and Comtech are working "at the highest level" to address the issue.
According to state police, a resident in the Tuckerman Avenue area called 911 and encountered a busy signal. The wireless service carrier confirmed the calls were made, but they did not transfer to local cell towers and never reached the 911 call center.
Until the issue is resolved, Middletown residents in the First Beach area are encouraged to call the town's police department directly at 401-846-1104 if they are in need of emergency services. Fire and rescue can be reached at 401-847-3636.
