Annual Police Parade Is Sunday
The parade starts in Middletown, and here are the road closings for the Town. In Newport, Broadway will be closed to traffic.

MIDDLETOWN, RI—Sunday morning, just before noon, the Aquidneck Island Police Parade steps off. The parade starts in Middletown at 317 West Main Road, a little below Two Mile Corner. It continues south down West Main to One Mile Corner in Newport, where West Main becomes Broadway. Then, it stays on Broadway to the police station (across from St. Joseph Church).
In Middletown, the parade route will be closed at 9:15 a.m., police said. The closing will affect West Main Road starting at the corner of Coddington Highway all the way to the corner of Miantonomi Avenue (One Mile Corner).
Newport is also enforcing traffic restrictions for the parade, which is supposed to enter the City around 12:30 p.m.

For drivers in Middletown, here are the West Main Road (Route 114) detours.
Traveling south on West Main Road, motorists who want to go west will detour to Coddington Highway. Motorists who want to go east will take the detour to Valley Road. Eastbound Coddington Highway traffic will be diverted northbound to West Main.

East Main Road will be closed at Two Mile Corner (where West Main intersects) but stays open otherwise for businesses. To avoid traffic congestion near the parade route, motorists can use Aquidneck Avenue (Route 138A) or Valley Road (Route 214), police said.
