Butterfly Count for Citizen Science

Experienced and beginner butterfly enthusiasts are invited to help us observe butterflies on the property for citizen science!

Butterflies are not only beautiful creatures of the natural world, but also ecologically important as pollinators, consumers, pest control and food sources for other animals. Scientists recognize that butterflies are also important indicators of ecosystem health. Each summer, the North American Butterfly Association sources local butterfly population information using citizen science observations. We will head out into various habitats with a checklist of RI butterflies, field guides, and nets. Experienced and beginner butterfly enthusiasts are welcome to participate in this program.
