MIDDLETOWN, RI — A new East Bay co-working space is promising Rhode Island professionals everything they need under one roof, calling themselves "a haven for the successful future of working families." Coggeshall Club in Middletown is the state's only coworking space to offer childcare services, fitness equipment and wellness programs.

The pilot location opens to the public on August 12. So far, approximately half of the working spaces have already been reserved based on preliminary tours, the company said in a release.

This is not Aquidneck Island's first coworking space. In June, Newport Mayor Jamie Bova and other local officials cut the ribbon on the new Innovate Newport center at the former Sheffield Elementary School.

While most coworking spaces are designed for urban professionals, Coggeshall Club was created for local families, the company said, allowing parents to work while their children up to age four are cared for.

Members also have access to fitness facilities, counselors, lactation consultants and designated pumping areas, snacks and beverages and more.

Coggeshall's founder, Brittany Riley, is a Portsmouth native and mother of two children.

"It’s a dream come true," Riley said. "We are taking a 360-degree view toward the future of work, one family member at a time. Employers can now provide this benefit to their employees who start a family as a preventive measure to keep them from quitting while eliminating the stress of finding childcare they can trust and be a part of, all while working remotely during these transitional years."

Memberships start at $379 per month with childcare or $249 per month for a workspace and fitness membership. The club is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m and one Saturday per month from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. For more information or to schedule a tour, visit the club's website.
