Coronavirus: Middletown Library Offers Earth Day Seeds For Pickup

The Middletown Public Library is offering a packet of seeds with each curbside pickup this week in celebration of Earth Day.

MIDDLETOWN, RI —The 50th anniversary of Earth Day was expected in many communities to be a day of coming together to clean up neighborhoods and plant seeds for a better tomorrow. In honor of that spirit in the era of social distancing, the Middletown Public Library is offering seed packets for residents who want to plant a seed for a better tomorrow on their own.

The library will provide the seed packets with each curbside pickup this week in celebration of Earth Day and National Library Week.

"This season of uncertainty is the best time to sow seeds of hope," the Middletown Library posted on its Facebook page.

While the library is closed due to the coronavirus health emergency, curbside pickup is still being provided. Residents can search the catalog and then email a request that includes a book title, author, and call number in the library's catalog, along with a phone number, to the library at mid.circulation@gmail.com.

The library fills requests in the order they are received. Depending on volume, orders may take a couple of days to be ready for pickup, and staff appreciates patience.
